Georgia Tech has not made an NCAA Tournament appearance since the 2020-21 season and has just four appearances since finishing as the runner-up in the 2004 tournament to Connecticut.

Prior to taking the job with the Yellow Jackets, Stoudamire was an assistant coach for the Boston Celtics. He also coached Pacific from 2016 to 2021, posting a 71-77 record in five seasons with the program.

Stoudamire played college basketball at Arizona from 1991-95 before becoming a first-round pick in the 1995 NBA Draft by the Toronto Raptors. He was rookie of the year for the Raptors in 1995 and also played for the Trail Blazers, Memphis Grizzlies and San Antonio Spurs.

Steve Carell gets his 'Ted Lasso' moment in 'Rooster' – Review

Steve Carellis in his lovable goofball era, and he should lean right in.

USA TODAY

The comedian and star best known for being the world's worst boss for seven seasons of NBC's beloved sitcom "The Office," has run the gamut in his long career from hero to cartoon villain, from a cringey "40-Year-Old Virgin" to a creepy TV host on Apple's "The Morning Show." But at this point in his tenure on our screens, Carell is unmistakably at his best when he's the underdog you can root for.

That's why the actor is so well matched to his new HBO comedy,"Rooster"(Sundays, 10 ET/PT, ★★★ out of four). A twee take on the quirky community on a modern college campus, "Rooster" casts Carell as an adorable and adoring dad to an adult daughter going through a rough time. Created by the king of optimism Bill Lawrence, "Rooster" has same the kind of glass-half-full tone as his celebrated comedies "Ted Lasso" and "Shrinking." Whether it can rise to the popularity and success of those two remains to be seen.

Steve Carell as Greg in "Rooster."

The show takes its poultry title from Carell's character, Greg Russo, a self-proclaimed "beach read" novelist whose airport bookstore bestsellers are about a detective called "Rooster." We meet this unassuming, bumbling man in his 60s visiting the campus of a liberal arts school, where the savvy students talk circles around his old-fashioned sensibilities and insecurities. He's really there, however, for his daughter Katie (Charly Clive), a professor who is going through a messy divorce after her ex Archie (Phil Dunster, aka Jamie Tartt of "Lasso"), a fellow professor in this tiny community, has an affair with a post-grad student.

Steve Carell as Greg Russo and John C. McGinley as Walter in "Rooster."

Katie doesn't want her dad's advice or help, but Greg is the kind of guy who just can't leave her to misery all alone. Fresh off a divorce himself, he does everything in his limited power to help Katie, even if sometimes he makes things worse. He eventually takes a job at the school pushed by cold-plunging dude-bro college president Walter (John C. McGinley, alum of Lawrence's "Scrubs"), keeping him and Katie in the same circles indefinitely.

There are a multitude of absurd high jinks and shenanigans (really the only words applicable here) that lead to Greg's decision to stay and inevitably fill each episode. He fumbles over almost everything in his new life, from parenting a grown-up daughter to surprise flirtation to walking up a steep hill in new shoes. Carell, now a "silver fox" as the characters describe him at home in tweed and making "kids these days" jokes, is deeply endearing. It's all the sweet parts of Michael Scott with none of the incompetence, idiocy or casual cruelty (ok, Greg is sometimes a bit incompetent).

'Hannah Montana,' 'Dexter' and more favorite shows that aired 20 years ago

Reality TV drama "The Hills," starring Whitney Port, Heidi Montag, Audrina Patridge and Lauren Conrad, first aired on MTV in May 2006. The show followed Conrad to Los Angeles after her graduation from "Laguna Beach."

It's a good look for Carell, who has taken on some rather unpleasant characters in recent outings like Netflix's "The Four Seasons" and HBO's film "Mountainhead." The actor is so naturally appealing it's almost relieving for him to have a character to match. The eccentric cast of characters around him match his energy nicely, particularly McGinley's genuinely bizarre Walter, whose manic energy is a frequent source of humor. Danielle Deadwyler ("Till") is also a comedic standout as a beleaguered lit professor trying to keep her head above water in the ever-changing and contracting world of academia.

Charly Clive as Katie and Phil Dunster as Archie in "Rooster."

However, like Lawrence's "Shrinking," moments of "Rooster" ring unexpectedly hollow, perhaps as the heightened world of the show, in which police officers ignore assault and arson and lose their guns in cold plunge tubs, gets a little too unrealistic at moments. It's all too whimsical, wishful and weird, from the accidental house fires to the Gen Z stereotypes: It's an uncanny valley of emotions.

But you can (mostly) forgive those moments of unease as the cast gels together, and Carell yucks it up so charmingly in his tweed blazers and too-slippery shoes. When the show turns on the charm it can hook you.

Everyone needs something this sweet to cuddle up with at the end of the day. "Rooster" might as well be a big teddy bear you got at a carnival. Somewhat artificial, but still soft, comforting and there for you. And sometimes that's all you need your TV show to be.

Bill Maher reveals what Trump texted him after their White House dinner

Bill Maheris hitting back asPresident Donald Trumpcontinues to bash him on social media.

USA TODAY

On the March 6 episode of "Real Time," the comedian addressed the fact that he was the subject of several of Trump's Truth Social posts earlier in the day. Without comment, the presidentsharedmultiplenews articlescovering his previous remarks slamming Maher as a jerk.

After pointing out that these posts were coming amid the United States'conflict with Iran, Maher expressed bewilderment and said, "This is getting weird."

Trump previously lambasted Maher in a Truth Social post in February, sayingit was a "total waste of time"for the two to have dinner together at the White House in 2025. The dinner was set up by their mutual friend Kid Rock, and Trump complained that Maher's HBO show has been "very boring" and "ANTI TRUMP" ever since they sat down together.

On his latest episode, Maher devoted a segment to responding to Trump's post. He alleged that Trump texted him "soon after" their dinner last year to complain that "I was still part of the lunatic left" and say that Trump "should have won a Nobel Prize for ending wars," to which Maher said he responded, "Yeah, and I should have won 20 Emmys."

According to Maher, he and Trump "argued for a while" via text, and Trump "ended by saying, 'Bill, you know what? Don't change. I wouldn't know what to do with you if you did.' "

"OK, that's the normal human being I saw the night we broke bread, and as long as I think there's even a spark of a possibility of bringing that guy out more, I will not consider the dinner a waste of time, even as I now see we're back to name calling," Maher said.

Bill Maher, right, responded to President Donald Trump's Truth Social post about him on the March 6 episode of "Real Time."

Maher objected to several of the claims Trump made in his Truth Social post about the dinner, maintaining that despite what the president said, he didn't "ask for" the dinner, he wasn't "nervous" or "scared," and it wasn't a "quick" sit-down.

"I was having a good time," Maher said. "So were you, Don, because we were talking like real humans, not like that crazy act you put on in public."

Bill Maher hits back:Comedian responds to President Trump's scathing post about their dinner

Maher went on to show clips of him giving Trump credit for some things he has done in office to illustrate that he doesn't suffer from "Trump derangement syndrome" like the president has claimed, though he argued Trump is suffering from "Bill Maher derangement syndrome." Maher noted he has defended his decision to have dinner with Trump, even as some on the left criticized him for doing so.

At the same time, Maher told Trump that there's "lots of stuff you do that is not my idea of success, and I have every right to say so in a democracy."

Lens moves 1 point behind PSG in French title race after beating Metz 3-0. Lyon faces Paris FC

PARIS (AP) — Lens capped a fine week by beating Metz 3-0 on Sunday to move one point behind Ligue 1 leader Paris Saint-Germain in a tense title race.

Associated Press

PSG's3-1 home defeat to Monacoon Friday opened the door forrival Lens, which reached the French Cup semifinals on Thursday afterbeating Lyon on penaltiesfollowing a 2-2 draw.

There are nine games left in Ligue 1 and Lens hosts PSG on April 11.

Rock-bottom Metz rode its luck until Saudi Arabian defender Saud Abdulhamid put Lens ahead just before halftime with a powerful half-volley following good work from striker Abdallah Sima, who had twice gone close to scoring.

Abdulhamid then combined with Adrien Thomasson to set up France winger Florian Thauvin for a neat finish from the edge of the penalty area just after the break.

Midfielder Amadou Haidara made it 3-0 in the 52nd minute after playing a one-two with former Metz captain Matthieu Udol as Lens took control. Udol was born in Metz and made 185 appearances at left back beforeforcing a movethis summer.

Later Sunday, Lyon was looking to bounce back from two league defeats and a French Cup exit when it hosted Paris FC, which won under new coach Antoine Kombouarélast weekend.

Also, Lille hosted midtable Lorient.

Thauvin scored one goal, set up the other and then netted with the decisive kick in the penalty shootout against Lyon.

The 33-year-oldThauvinjoined from Italian sideUdinesethis season. He was a fringe player in the France team when it won the 2018 World Cup and then had a long spell out.

But Thauvin's fine form with Lens helped him break back into the national team and he scored against Azerbaijan last October. He is pushing for a place in coach Didier Deschamps'World Cupsquad later this year. ___

Mi Hyang Lee wins Blue Bay for first LPGA victory in 8 years

South Korea's Mi Hyang Lee overcame a pair of double bogeys on the front nine and recorded a birdie on the final hole to seize a one-stroke win at the Blue Bay LPGA on Sunday at Hainan Island, China.

Field Level Media

Lee, 32, won her third LPGA title and first since capturing the 2017 Women's Scottish Open after firing a 1-over-par 73 on Sunday to finish with an 11-under 277 at the Jian Lake Blue Bay Golf Course.

She finished one stroke better than China's Weiwei Zhang (69 on Sunday), who failed to hold the lead after a bogey on the 17th hole.

"Still kind of a little bit shake my hands," Lee said of her nerves. "First hole make birdie, but like two double front nine and then finish 4-over so was almost give up, but my caddie just kept telling me keep fighting, fighting. I really fought by myself, just didn't give up, and then I just got to make a lot of birdies, so I think amazing. Feels amazing, yes."

Lee became only the second South Korean to win the Blue Bay LPGA, joining 2015 champion Sei Young Kim

Auston Kim (71) made three birdies over the final five holes to reside in a third-place tie with Aditi Ashok (72) of India.

"I'm proud of the three birdies that I made coming in, but it really (stinks) to play that well Thursday (67), Friday (68), and not get it done. Really frustrating," Kim said. "I hope moving forward I won't make the same mistakes that I did this week and play better."

Lee saw her three-stroke lead evaporate following double bogeys on the fifth and ninth holes before making birdies on the 10th and 13th holes.

She took advantage of Zhang's misstep on the 17th hole by hitting the pin on her third shot at the par-5 18th hole. She tapped in from 2 feet out to win the tournament.

"I just keep watching the scoreboard. I think that's why this -- that give me a lot of confidence," Lee said. "I just keep making one more birdie, two more birdie, and so it was -- yeah, just keep watching it, the scoreboard. I knew Weiwei and Rio (Takeda of Japan) play well, too."

Takeda (73), the defending champion, tied for fifth with South Koreans Hye-Jin Choi (74) and A Lim Kim (73) and China's Yu Liu (74).

Lowdon: Cadillac has earned rivals' respect after its first F1 race in Australia

MELBOURNE, Australia (AP) — After a strong Australian debut, Cadillac principal Graeme Lowdon says the team has earned its rivals' respect and plans to build on a "really solid platform" for future success.

Australia F1 GP Auto Racing

General Motors brand Cadillac had a short run-up to the pinnacle of motor sport, and its 2026 debut at Melbourne's Albert Park, having only gained its commercial deal with the sport in November 2024. Though preparations were well underway at its Silverstone Park base located next to the famous UK track.

The American team didn't set the time sheets alight at 2026's first race, with Sergio Pérez finishing 16th, up from 18th on the grid; while teammate Valtteri Bottas failed to finish from 19th. But it can be proud it got two cars qualified and onto the grid at the world's toughest motor racing competition, and looked properly turned out as an operation.

"In terms of a first race for a new team. I'm really, really pleased with the way that the team's done everything," Lowdon told The Associated Press. "It would have been great to get both cars home, for sure. And I haven't been in all of the meetings yet to see what the what the detail was on the problem we had with Valtteri's car, but it certainly looked as if it wasn't something that we had direct control over.

"But to get one car home, it's just kind of a mark of the start of a very, very long journey. I'm kind of more pleased with the whole approach of the team. What I think we've created here is the foundations of something that could be really very special."

Cadillac, though, won't be taking any heart from finishing ahead of Aston Martin, which had a nightmare season start with an uncompetitive and unreliable Honda power unit that cost it mileage to make improvements; ensuring the team is destined to be at the back for the foreseeable future.

"I think what it does do is give some context of just how difficult Formula 1 is," Lowdon said. "I've got huge respect for Aston Martin, I know a lot of people who work there, they're incredible people who've got great ownership. You know, there's all of the required investment there.

"Formula 1 is a team game. And I've always said it, I think it's the greatest team game in the world, but it's also the most difficult team game in the world because everybody is fundamentally trying to do exactly the same thing at the same time to the same set of rules, and so the competition is fierce."
