Following a stellar sophomore campaign with theWashington Huskies, star Alexis DeBoer was the recipient of several Big Ten honors on Friday morning.
DeBoer, who was named a Preseason Second Team All-American after coming off a debut season in which she was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, more than lived up to the hype. Not only was Washington's star first baseman, who started every game, named to the All-Big Ten First Team, but she also found herself on the conference's All-Defense Team.
As the centerpiece of coach Heather Tarr's lineup, almost exclusively hitting out of the No. 2 spot, DeBoer led theHuskieswith her 18 home runs (tied for No. 10 in the Big Ten), 45 runs scored, 1.221 OPS, and 36 walks.
