UCLA to continue to play home games at Rose Bowl in 2026

UCLA's flirtation with SoFi Stadium isn't resulting in a move in 2026.

Yahoo Sports

The school told the California Postin a statement that it was going to play this season at the Rose Bowl. The school has been exploring the possibility of leaving the iconic stadium to play its home games at the home of the Los Angeles Rams and Los Angeles Chargers.

"UCLA will play the upcoming football season at the Rose Bowl," Mary Osako, UCLA's vice chancellor of strategic communications, said in a statement provided to the California Post. "We know how much game day means to Bruins — to our students, alumni and fans who plan their autumn around Saturdays together.

"Our priority is delivering a strong season experience for our student-athletes and our community, and we have great momentum in our football program. During this unprecedented time in college athletics, UCLA will always be guided by what's best for our student-athletes and the Bruin community."

That exploration led to a lawsuit from the city of Pasadena and the Rose Bowl against the school. UCLA's lease with the stadium stretches into the 2040s. A court date is set for Friday regarding that suit.

The suit was filed in October and said that the school was "unequivocally expressing its intent to abandon the Rose Bowl Stadium" to relocate to the NFL stadium. The Rose Bowl has been UCLA's home for 44 seasons since the school moved from the Los Angeles Coliseum.

Given the length of the lease remaining at the Rose Bowl, it's likely that UCLA will have to pay a hefty sum to move to SoFi Stadium in the near future. And remember, UCLA has an athletic department thathasn't exactly been flush with cash in recent seasons.

UCLA has seven home games at the Rose Bowl in new coach Bob Chesney's first season. The Bruins host USC to end the season, and teams like Illinois and Wisconsin also come to the Rose Bowl.

Who needs drama school when you have the cast ofAll My Children?

According toMichael B. Jordan, getting his start on the long-running soap opera was all the education he needed as an up-and-coming young actor. Now anOscar nomineefor his performance inRyan Coogler'sSinners, Jordan reflected on hisAll My Childrenstint during a recent interview withSirius XM, where he was treated to some kind words for his former soap costar, Susan Lucci.

"He was always so wonderful to work with," Lucci told the outlet during her Feb. 5 visit. "He was prepared, he was on time, he was committed, he was sweet, he was respectful to everyone around him — cast, crew, producers, everybody, you name it. But not nauseously so, you know, not phony baloney. He was authentically who he was."

She added, "He was a genuinely terrific young man."

Jordan received the words with a smile, calling Lucci's praise "sweet" and noting, "I gotta get in touch with her."

He went on to speak highly of his time on the show, sharing that — although it was not his first role in Hollywood — his teenage tenure onAll My Childrenwas a formative experience.

"That time I spent on that show did so much for me education-wise," he shared, sharing that he had the honor of "learning about the craft" alongside stars like Lucci, Darnell Williams, and Walt Willey.

"We did 100-plus pages a day," he added. "We did an episode and a half a day, you know what I'm saying? It was a machine. And [for] a kid that never really went to acting classes and never went to acting school or anything like that, that was my education. I learned from them."

By the time he joined the soap, Jordan had already broken out onto the scene as Wallace onThe Wire. ButAll My Childrenmarked another significant stretch of his career, as he stuck with the show for three years across 59 episodes. His role, Reggie Porter Montgomery, was originally played by the lateChadwick Boseman— his futureBlack Panther costar— who was fired after just one week on set for criticizing Reggie's character arc forplaying into racial stereotypes.

Michael B. Jordan

Jordan himself has acknowledged that criticism of the character and in 2015, toldGQthat it ended up providing a road map of the kind of roles he wanted to pursue in the future. "No dad, no mom, a f---ing stereotypical black role in a soap opera," he said of Reggies. "And I saw the stereotype, so moving forward I was like, 'Nah, those are the roles I don't want to play.'"

That said, Jordan has also noted that starring on a soap opened doors he never could've expected. "I never knew how many casting directors and executives in Hollywood would tell me, 'Oh man, my wife really loves you.' Or like, 'Oh, she watches you all the time on the stories,'" he toldPEOPLElast year, adding that several of those conversations ended with invitations for him to come in and read for new projects.

Jordan has come a long way since hisAll My Childrendays, boasting accolades including a Producers Guild Award and SAG win, in addition to a Golden Globe nod and two Emmy nominations.

Cowboys reportedly re-sign RB Javonte Williams to 3-year deal worth $24M

The Dallas Cowboys reportedly agreed to terms with running back Javonte Williams on a 3-year, $24 million deal, according to theteam. Williams will reportedly have $16 million in guaranteed money. His $8 million annual salary ties him with D'Andre Swift as the 16th-highest-paid running back in the NFL.

The Cowboys signed Williams to a 1-year, $3 million contract last offseason. Williams is the first running back the Cowboys have extended since re-signing Ezekiel Elliott in 2019.

Williams broke out in his first season with the Cowboys, quickly outperforming his contract. He came into the season healthy, rushing for a career-high 1,201 yards and 11 touchdowns. The 25-year-old running back also provided a spark to the Cowboys' overall rushing offense. The Cowboys were ninth in rushing yards last season after finishing 27th in 2024.

He also added 35 catches for 137 yards and 2 receiving touchdowns. He played in 16 games last season after missing Week 18 with shoulder and neck injuries. Despite suffering injuries late in the year, he still performed well.

Williams spent his first four seasons with the Denver Broncos after being drafted in the second round out of the University of North Carolina in 2021. His role decreased in his last two years with the Broncos. Williams was part of a running back committee under Broncos head coach Sean Payton and was still trying to return to form after suffering an ACL, LCL and posterolateral corner injury in his right knee in 2022.

The Cowboys will now turn their attention to deciding on free-agentwide receiver George Pickens, while the free-agent running back class takes a hit after the loss of Williams.
